Art holds the power to transcend content areas, learning styles, ages and real-world professions.
Instructional Goals:
* To get students motivated to want to make art and to be excited to learn new ideas, mediums, and processes
* Develop strong relationships with students
* Help students figure out a learning style that works for them and allows them to think for themselves
* Teach students to take control of their learning, be able to solve their problems/ ask questions and to take risks
* Give each student the ability to have an impactful and meaningful art experience
* Create lessons that students can relate to
Student Expectations and Classroom Community
* Respect is established by students being on time, prepared and ready to learn
* Students are respectful to each other, materials, classroom and teacher
* Students clean up and take care of work areas
* Students are productive and working during class
The Classroom Setup
* In groups to encourage collaboration
* Materials are easily accessible and students can get what they need on their own
* The learning targets and goals for the day are presented in open view
* Room can change to accommodate certain students
Differentiation
* All learning styles need to be considered when presenting and planning lessons
* Accommodation/ Modifications are in place for students who need them
* There is no such thing as a "late assignment" to accommodate for students who work at slower rates.
